Apryl Haden

Attorney/Managing Partner

apryl@hadentoothmanlaw.com

Apryl had an interesting path to get to where she is today, and her history is what makes her a unique attorney and perhaps the right choice to work with you.

Originally from Indiana, Apryl moved to Birmingham, Alabama in middle school. She graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University with a degree in Political Science and English, and received a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Virginia. After graduate school she moved to Northeast Tennessee where she taught at a junior college before getting her real estate license in 1993 when the youngest of her three children was 8 months old.  Apryl was a top producing agent, worked with Cartus Relocation clients, got her broker’s license in 2006, and earned the CRS, GRI, and e-Pro designations. She focused on educating others about contracts, agency, Fair Housing issues, ethics, and professionalism throughout her real estate career; taught classes to new agents and seasoned agents; and established and conducted training programs

After her nearly 20 years as a real estate agent and broker in Tennessee, Apryl relocated to Charleston where she graduated cum laude from the Charleston School of Law. Shortly after graduation, Apryl spent a year with a large non-profit in Washington, DC, where she worked alongside case managers to achieve housing stability for formerly homeless clients. Apryl then returned to South Carolina to take the bar exam and pursue practice as an attorney. While in Charleston, she also worked for a real estate company in Mount Pleasant and began teaching real estate courses for a real estate school. Apryl has been certified by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission as an instructor for several years and has taught real estate continuing education classes, broker classes, pre-licensing classes, and advanced principles in real estate. She moved to Myrtle Beach in 2017 and was the real estate attorney at a local firm before starting her own solo practice.

Apryl handles both residential and commercial real estate transactions and other real estate related, business law, and estate planning matters. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Horry County Bar Association, The South Carolina Womens Law Association, the American Bar Association, and the Real Estate Practice Section of the South Carolina Bar and the Small Firm and Solo Practice Section of the South Carolina Bar.  The firm is a proud member of the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.

On a personal note, Apryl has three adult children – a daughter and two sons — who all live too far away. She lives in Myrtle Beach with her three dogs – little ones Lucy and Theo, and a sweet goofy Golden named Callie.

Shelby Beal

Associate Attorney

Shelby is originally from Morristown, Tennessee, and all she ever dreamed of being was an attorney and being able to serve her community. In her quest to be an attorney, she attended the University of Tennessee as a second-generation Volunteer. In Summer 2020, Shelby graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science.

That fall, Shelby entered Lincoln Memorial Duncan School of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee. During her time in law school, Shelby was a member on the Moot Court Board and became a regional semi-finalist in the American Bar Association’s National Moot Court Competition. In addition to her academic club activity, she also participated in numerous clubs geared towards outreach in the community, including her service as the President of Women of Law Society. During her tenure, the Women of Law Society was able to give over a dozen “suit scholarships” which allowed the recipients to buy outfits that instilled confidence in the workplace. Throughout her three years in law school, Shelby completed nearly 300 hours of pro bono service in her community and was nominated for the Lincoln Character Award as well as the Lincoln Service Award. She received her Juris Doctorate with honors in 2023 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2024.

With a servant’s heart, Shelby is an ardent supporter of her community and is always searching for ways to give back. In her free time, Shelby enjoys vintage cars, cheering on the Volunteers (Go Vols!), and going to the beach with her husband, Brandon, and their dog, Holley.
